First, we’d like to thank all those in attendance at last night’s Little Egg Harbor Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting for the proposed Atlantic Off-Road Park.

For those that made it to last night’s meeting..... you now see what we’re up against and why your support for this project is both critical and important.

On the meeting itself: The meeting started at 6:00pm and this meeting was for Atlantic Off-Highway Vehicle Parks (AOHVP) professional team made up of the AOHVP Landscape Architect and the AOHVP Municipal Planned. Both professionals described the inherited benefits of the proposal and also took questions from the board members and members of the public.

During the question period Little Egg Harbor township zoning board professionals made up of the township’s attorney, engineer and landscape architect grilled the AOHVP team with questions that had nothing to do with the use variance and where site plan related issues that aren’t being presented at this time... The impression from many was that they were trying to rack-up billable hours from the township.

Those from Environmental Extremist Community brought up questions based on false and misleading information which again had nothing to do with the use variance application other than to draw out the process so that they can buy time so that they can organize more of their supporters for future meetings.

Also a representative of the NJDEP was there to explain the NJDEP’s position on off-road use in the state and he too was cross examined from both the township’s attorney, engineer and landscape architect as well as those from environmental extremist community which again brought up a lot of false and misleading information.

After close to 4 hours of testimony the meeting was adjourned until another date.

NOW HERE’S THE PROBLEM: The Environmental Extremist Community and a small group of locals being organized by Capt Buzby have been putting together a grass roots effort very similar to what the Environmental Extremist Community used to block and kill the Sahara Sands Monroe NJ Off-Road Park site that the State of New Jersey purchased as for off-road recreation.

These Environmental Extremist are the same people that forced the Pinelands Commission and the New Jersey Conservation Foundation to close the Chatsworth OHV Park and now they are doing everything in their power to kill proposed Little Egg Harbor OHV park.

NOW HERE’S WHAT WE NEED THE OFF ROAD COMMUNITY TO DO:...YOU as a concerned citizen have to step up and do the right thing! If you want an OHV park we need your support NOW in a big way and we need your attendance at all future meetings. The Environmental Extremist and their community know that the off-road riders don’t stand up and fight for their rights and that’s why they have been successful at forcing their agenda of exclusion to public lands... IF YOU WANT TO RIDE IN NEW JERSEY THEN YOU NEED TO BE HEARD!

We have the support of the press on Off-Highway Vehicle Issues NOW WE NEED THE SUPPORT FROM THE NEW JERSEY’S OFF-HIGHWAY COMMUNITY! Below is some of the proof from two article’s from last nights meeting.

Press of Atlantic City from last nights meeting: http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/press/ocean/article_e3f5aba8-70ef-11de-a599-001cc4c002e0.html

Thank you very much for the information and the effort and work you've put into this.

I, not being from NJ, may not be able to do much.
I do, however, have a LOT of experience with Environmental Issues.
I also know a lot of people that may be able to help.

Here's what I can and will do.
If you can find out what they're arguments are I can help prepare or go over the list and come-up with counter-points to their objections.

Expert Testimony may also be something that I can provide.

Let me know if you want me to help.
I'll do everything I can to help get a place to ride.

supposedly it is one cop with a phony law degree from a craker jack box that is pissin and moaning about the park, because 1/4 mile down the road is his rental properties... he claims it will inundate the local ambulatory and police forces due to the illegal bikes and the careless riders, citing ONE incident 3 years ago, where 8 idiots got out of control in the now DEFUNCT ATV park of NJ... It was closed due to the lease agreement ending and not being renewed...

So, this deusch of a cop, and a few hyper left winged tree huggers think that an old sand pit should be saved from the terrors of the off road community and its horrible impact on the environment...

Who gives a hoot... They get this place, just like the last one, under a bunch of leases and loans, and in 4-5 years, enough people will learn it is too far away, cost too much to attend, and has too many rules, so it is easier to go ride along fire trails and dirt roads along the parkway and risk getting caught, rather than do what the "man" forces them to do...

My tech school alone, in sussex county, is in possession of 74 acres of property, 18 of which are in actual use, including parking... the rest is wooded and undeveloped... butting up to this property, are TWO now defunct, abandoned farms, totalling in at over 240 acres together... Let the school keep 25 acres for themselves, or hell, give them 30, and sell the rest to the state at a decent cost to the taxpayer, and 280 acres could make a pretty decent riding place... But wait... Why would we want to benefit a small group of miscreants who damage woodlands with their machines of death???? I hate tree huggers, and I hate politicians more, who get to pick and choose where my taxes go.... I ranted in another section about this already, but to give you an example about how $%^ up NJ is, LAKE HOPATCONG, which is the largest man made late in NJ, was drained 3 feet too much by the DEP this winter, and the community at large had to SUE THE STATE to close the flippin dam, before the lake was dry!!! It trashed the entire SPRING industry, and half of the summer (water is still 11 inches below normal), and marinas and local businesses got the raw end of the deal...

On top of that, all those poor $%^ who live on the lake and pay LAKE FRONT TAXES, which are close to double, if not more, in taxes, found out the hard way, that their tax dollars vanished, and noone is maintaining the lake!!!

The state police barracks on the lake has dwindled down to only TWO full time officers, what was once 11... The "LAKE COMMISSION" in charge of removing waste/seaweed/dam control, and lake cleanliness WENT BANKRUPT!!!! the lake is now officially overrun by weeds and algea, as well soot and run-off from properties where the new seawalls were not installed!!! They spent 4 million dollars on ONE seawall at the entrance in landing, but neglected 4 other seawalls around the lake that have collapsed or are now tipping INTO the lake!!!

our taxes have gone up 4 times in 4 years by 4.5 percent... yet my brother and I could not put his boat into the water until 3 weeks ago...1/2 through the season... Then I find out an ATV park 147 miles away from me, will be funded by a tax pool for green acres, will still charge entrance and membership, even though a percentage came directly out of my paycheck to make the place!!!! The opposition for an ATV park is really low, but everytime i get more info about the place, I get more and more upset... it benefits really only one small group, the atlantic guys... Beyond that, it will be come a money pit or a liability like the last place has been labled!!!!

I dont oppose it, but if youre gonna use my taxes, do it right, dont do one again and let it flounder for 4-8 years until it falls flat and we have to start over... Fight for 3 or 4 places... Make them open up other outlets of income... Let our registrations PHYSICALLY pay for the parks, instead of padding some lobbyists pocket!!!

If we build this park and fight for this park alone, we are fighting a loosing battle... because anyone north of ocean county will end up footing the biggest bill, or just plain old miss out after this one burns out like the last... One park wont cut it in this state... One park is FAR from fair in the state that has the second strictest MV laws in the US... if they want us to comply and ride safely on approved property, then the property should be more central, more accessible, and certainly more friendly to ALL riders...

i support the effort, but I feel it is tossing the perverbial hotdog down the hallway... the only person feeling anything is the weiner and he's just getting bounced around.

you always say that n.j. sucks blah....blah......blah new jersey has no where to ride legally blah... blah.... blah
now your complaining because it's @ exit 58 off the gardenstate pkwy. and it's to far, but it's a step in the right direction. you are so unbelievable. a few other words come to mind but i'll be nice :D

There has already been a park in the shore area that lasted a very long time, until for some reason, it was just closed due to lease termination... So why are they planning another park in the same area where the last one failed? His plan for 3 parks was so vague that he never even mentioned northern NJ... If memory serves me, he mentioned the local forests and their participation, but left it at that...and side stepped both yours and my concerns and kept pitching the park...

I just got a letter that my taxes are 3800 bux for 2009-2010... To some, that may seem like a tiny amount... But my house is 690 sq feet, on a 45X100 lot, single story summer shak renovation... 3800 is astronomical to me, when nothing has changed with my house, or the property around my house, to jack it up over the past 4 years to this rate, when i paid 2900 and complained that even that amount was high for my property... Then i hear the local lake commission is bankrupt and the lake was drained too far and the sea weed is out of control, the local school budget failed, AND an atv park on exit 58 is being funded by our tax dollars, but the only benefit for me is that it is a legal place in NJ to ride IF i can get my buggies registered and insured... Where is my 3800 going??????

I only remember a mention of other possible parks, but I do remember the mention of the local state parks participating... If there are 2 other parks into play, why are we only fighting for one? It seems ALL the effort so far is for one park, and to me, that is foolish... It is putting all of our eggs in one basket, and what happens if the cop wins? do we loose the 2 other potential sites or plans???

Im sleep deprived, hence the rant, and I know you are passionate about it Johnny, and I apologize... I just hate the fact that we are paying for this place no matter what, we still get greif from the government about it, and I will still have to pay just to get in the door, technically 3 times, since I still have to find a way to register my buggies in NJ and insure them before I can even get permission to ride... So, registration, taxes, AND an entrance fee... What am I paying for in the long run? 1 park so far, and a promise that some time in the future, there will be 2 more parks somewhere?

Any idea where the other parks are proposed? The last meeting, and the only meeting I could attend, was for the UTV/ATV park by the NJOHVCC... It sounded like an amazing plan, but again, the costs keep adding up, making it extremely difficult for me, or my family to consider riding there... It is free to go to Tamaqua, or vinny's, or even Sals when he had us down... Private property seems the only outlet these days... public places are getting too expensive, and to restrictive...

I have a great time riding with you and NEBA, Johnny, but our rides are getting farther and farther apart, soley due to cost! How can I justify spending even more in my own state? I would rather ride with you for free on the fire trails with Jared for 40 minutes (before blowing up!), then have to pay entrance fees and ride in designated areas at scheduled times at some park.

You are absolutely right for calling me out Johnny... I am just tired of throwing away money for a sport I love, just to watch our riding places fold, close, or become restrictive... This park is an awesome idea, but it seems, like I said before, we are relying soley on the success of this place, which would virtually eliminate the potential for others, should this plan not last, or not make it...

In respect to you Johnny, and for being a 2 faced deusch about the whole park stuff, I wrote a couple letters to the senators and representatives in support of any ATV establishment for owners/operators who follow the rules... I know it doesnt help me personally with the costs, but at least my opinion is in someones inbox! If they get enough of those like you have been doing, maybe someone will get the point... i just hope there are enough of those emails...

Johnny.... Put me in my place buddy... you and me need to go for a ride... My parts are on their way from Tommy... Lets hit those trails I told you about... i'll let you kick the #$%^ out of me in the woods!!! I need it!

Sorry for tee-ing you off, I know it is important, i just cant see why it costs so much just to have one riding park... if tax dollars ultimately contribute to the creation, why cant there be other reparations to ease the cost for the riders? sorry buddy... I'll make it up to you!

john

hey john, now that they ##### up our lake, they should drain it and make an atv park, hahahahah. love your rant.. i hear ya. but hey, maybe our schools don't have enough books, we have new fields for all our sports. and a fairly new HUGE gym. a person offered 125 acres in vernon a while back for riders. the town shot it down, mostly cause the entrance was close to a park. even though i'm every bit of two ours from lit. egg harbor. i will go to the next meeting. i myself love the fact of a changing plan for the good of the environment, but they go to far, ive read about our tires tranfering seeds, so do hiking boots. our machines may leak ocasionally, look at every parking lot, oils ect. everywhere that goes directly into drains straight to a river or lake. hiker with dogs that pee or poo, unless they are feed all natural food,,,, kills plantlife. how many of those treehuggers live in developments that were clearcut. right now, you can ride a snowmobile in our state parks! why? don't they leak ocasionally? in stokes state forest, a new jersey state trooper and his girlfriend were killed while riding. as far as more than 1 park, i read that it was as 1 for south, 1 central, and 1 north jersey. hey, go swim in lake hopatcong, oil and gas taste good. why isn't it a concern? to many treehugger need a place to cool off. lets fight for one, even if its to far. then two, then three. we used to ride saxon fall pit years ago, tilcon bought it and had to make a sanctuary out of it. it was huge and noone got bothered there. even team honda practiced there.
