So... They are having a difficult time with the atlantic offraod park down in Egg Harbor... I love the idea of an offraod park in NJ, but why Egg harbor... for most people, the ONLY way to get there is the GSP... That means 5-7 bux in tolls back and fourth... On top of that, you either have to pay to join the club, OR pay per weekend for "timed" ride allowance, on top of passing tech inspection, where paperwork (registration, insurance, proof of ownership) are mandatory... State police have the right to impound any machine deemed unfit for use, as well as any machine from riders who enter the property without proper paperwork!!!
So... You need to spend the $$ on insurance AND registration, AND spend whatever dollar amount on membership or "weekend" rides, AND tolls and gas to get there (2 hours IN STATE!!!), and you can only ride in your allotted times...
There is NO opposition from the ATV riders, but tons from the locals who dont ride, and the pshyco tree huggers, but noone has yet to mention the "actual" cost... According to that article that went out, over 1 mill is coming out of OUR taxes (superfund or green acres government easement), AND the national atv/ohv organization is handing in over 1 mil, totalling over 2.3 for the construction and creation of the park if it passes their zoning and such... Yet NO money has been set up for ANYTHING north of EGG HARBOR-- EVER-- in the history of the state!!! So... My tax dollars will pay for the building of the park, yet I STILL have to pay for a registration annually for my machine, AND pay yearly fees to the park that is 2 hours away if I want to ride in the ONLY legal ATV park in NJ...
I dont like %&*ing money, especially when politicians get to pick and choose where it gets flushed, and I have no say, even when I write to my senators and congressmen... I wrote a pretty eloquent letter to Rep. Frelinghysen, sho is actually a family friend, about legal ATV riding... His secretary wrote back stating that his official opinion is that there are already plans to aid in LEGAL riding in the state, and to just be patient... HA!!! he didnt mention that it is in the southern most county in the state, or that there is heavy opposition by left wing nut cases, or that on top of my taxes and registrations contributing to the place, that I will ALSO have to pay fees to ride there!!!
NJ sux.
